The Terres de l’Ebre, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2013, are a tourist destination that is characterized by its high natural value and the low density of tourist activity. Its stable and favorable climate throughout the year, undoubtedly make it an ideal destination to enjoy with family and friends. It is also worth noting the recent distinction awarded by the Global Green Destinations International Association, which recognizes the Terres de l’Ebre as one of the 100 best sustainable tourist destinations in the world in 2016.

In Terres de l’Ebre, you will find as many options as you can imagine: its coastline, a rich cultural and historical heritage, landscapes of great natural beauty where you can enjoy outdoor activities, a Mediterranean gastronomy with a strong identity own, a wide range of leisure activities, areas with a great wine and rice growing tradition and a wide variety of popular festivals and historical recreations.

The Ebre River has been, continues to be and possibly will be the backbone of these four counties, the southernmost of Catalonia. But it is also a space to enjoy, either sailing on board a tourist lute, or taking a walk in a canoe or kayak.

The Terres de l’Ebre stand out above all for their natural spaces, one of the main reasons to visit them. There you will find two natural parks, the Delta de l´Ebre and the Ports, a nature reserve and 19 other spaces, all protected under the Natura 2000 Network figure. 35% of its territory is a protected area. A paradise for nature lovers where you can practice activities such as climbing, hiking and bird watching. Or practice cycling in the mountainous areas or on the deltaic plain, without forgetting the Via Verda, which crosses the Terra Alta and the Baix Ebre along 49 km, connected today with the natural path of the Ebre that allows you to reach the same mouth.

The coast brings together all the variants offered by the Mediterranean Sea. To the north stand out lonely coves, hidden by the cliffs, which can be easily traveled through the Mediterranean trail, known as GR 92. In the south, spacious beaches with fine sand and shallow waters dominate. Sant Carles de la Ràpita Nautical Station will offer all kinds of sports and activities for the whole family from Alcanar to Ametlla de Mar.

The Ebro has been a key element for all the civilizations that have taken root in this territory. The passage of these populations has left a singular and unique historical and architectural legacy, giving personality and character to these four counties. The cultural diversity is reflected in the variety of existing proposals, such as visiting the cave paintings of Ulldecona, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the monumental complex of the city of Tortosa, the various sites of the Battle of the Ebre, the cooperative wineries of Gandesa and Pinell de Brai or the Picasso Center in Horta de Sant Joan.

The cultural, historical and festive richness of the territory is expressed to the fullest in the friendly and welcoming character of its people and in its cuisine, which is a mosaic of the best Mediterranean tradition, where the cultivation of rice in different towns in the territory, such as Amposta, but also the gastronomic richness of local fish and seafood varieties and the cultivation of vegetables, fruits and products of the land, such as DO Terra Alta wine, olive oil and honey, many of which have certificates guaranteeing their quality.

Today, you can witness several festivals declared of tourist interest, which bring us closer to past times, such as Tortosa’s Renaissance Festival, a traditional representation of the Passion of Ulldecona or the festival of Sant Antoni in the municipality of Ascó, declared cultural festival of national interest.
