CORBERA D’EBRE

Located in the eastern part of the region, in the valley of the river Sec, between Gandesa and Móra d’Ebre, at the foot of the Sierra de Cavalls.

Corbera d’Ebre

To the left of the river Sec and between the Sierras de Cavalls, the Torre and the Sierra de la Fatarella we find Corbera, a town marked by the Battle of the Ebro and a clear example of the historical memory that must be remembered. Its origin comes from the castrum of Corbera, a fortress of Iberian origin. Terra Alta is marked by the Battle of the Ebro but Corbera is a setting that recalls the harshness of the war and the effects it had on the countryside. The old village of Corbera was destroyed and a village was built next door keeping the old one as a reminder of an episode that should never be forgotten. From Corbera d’Ebre we can see a landscape of the mountains that surround the town creating a unique picture.

The remains of the old village, located at the top of the town remain as left by the war, half-fallen buildings and truncated lives, presided over by the Parish Church of San Pedro visitable and a unique experience. Also in the old town there is an outdoor art exhibition known as the Alphabet of Peace, a cry of protest against the war memory that sank the town and a commitment from the art world in favor of peace.

In the municipality there is the Interpretation Center 115, an interpretation museum of the Battle of the Ebro and an exhibition hall, also dedicated to the Battle of the Ebro.
